SWISS GOVERNMENT EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP 2024-25
The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships is a partially funded scholarship offered to students who want to study for their master’s degree in Switzerland. Students with great ideas and open minds inclined toward cultural exchange are highly encouraged to apply for this merit-based scholarship. The main objective of this international scholarship in Switzerland is to strengthen ties between Switzerland and other countries by encouraging international collaboration in the field of research and arts.
Financial Benefit(s):
- Monthly stipend: This helps you cover all your living expenses during your stay in Switzerland.
Application Deadline: Differs depending on the country. Submission deadlines will be between September and December.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants must submit separate applications to the universities and federal commission of scholarship for foreign students. Applicants should submit a comprehensive profile and present their research work as part of the application. Applicants are responsible for finding a supervisor from their preferred Swiss university and students applying for arts scholarship must confirm their country’s eligibility before proceeding with their application.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be:
- Able to secure an acceptance letter from a professor at any Swiss university.
- Nationals of countries that maintain diplomatic relations with Switzerland (Students staying in Switzerland for more than a year are not eligible).
- Able to relocate for their studies to qualify for the Swiss government scholarship.
- Applicants who have received any other Swiss Government grant are not eligible.
- Students applying for master’s program scholarship in Switzerland should hold a bachelor’s degree equivalent to Swiss bachelor’s degree.
- Students applying for PhD and Post-Doc programs must possess a master’s degree equivalent to Swiss graduate degree.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
The following documents are needed for the Switzerland Government Excellent Scholarship
- Signed FCS application form,
- Two copies of applicant’s passport,
- CV with a list of academic publications and awards,
- Letter of motivation with maximum of two pages,
- A complete research proposal with five minimum pages,
- Short CV of an academic mentor from home institution,
- Two confidential letters of recommendation,
- Photocopies of grade sheets and certificates (in English, German, French or Italian),
- A signed medical certificate,
- Copy of the letter from the host professor that confirms why they are willing to support the research and supervise.
- Two sets of documents: the first set comprises original signed documents, including two recommendation letters in English, and the second set is a copy of the first set, with the recommendation letters.
